Expert assistance in implementing a program proven to cultivate Piano fluency
Our program is primarily for pre-teen and teen beginners, with initial training in the Classical tradition, and with customization in style preference over time as skills permit. Our teaching approach is kid-friendly to keep the youngsters engaged, yet with a balance of the coaching component to keep them progressing. Our studio procedures and open architecture ensure that all interaction with children is subject to direct observation of parents.
Numerous studies over decades have shown that childhood music training enhances overall intelligence, problem solving skills, social skills, and self-image, among other benefits. Accordingly, we encourage you to contact us about getting started as soon as possible!
Key features of our Piano program ...
Obtain critical knowledge to enhance proficiency and reduce common mistakes - Understanding the key elements of fundamental music skills will cultivate a higher level of piano proficiency faster than a typical program focused solely on learning how to reproduce songs.
Expert assistance with setting up an effective practice routine - If there is any “secret” to progress with piano, it is this: practice! An effective practice routine involves a goal-oriented approach to efficiently covering multiple areas of musicianship.
Learn proper physical technique for maximum control and efficiency - Physical technique refers to all aspects of the way our body interacts with the piano. Improper physical technique will make learning piano much harder than it has to be, and will ultimately impose a needless barrier on peak performance. Proper physical technique will deliver maximum efficiency with minimal effort, such that the fingers will become a powerful musical tool rather than a frustrating barrier to self-expression.
Accountability – Many students of piano attempt to pick out the easiest or most satisfying parts of a given learning resource and concentrate on those things to the neglect of other critical elements. A regular meeting with a qualified teacher will inherently encourage students to build up a comprehensive set of skills.
Encouragement – Most musicians achieve their goals through persistent effort. All musicians, even the very gifted ones, go through struggles with various aspects of building up skills. The key to musical success is persistent effort, and a teacher will provide the encouragement through the more challenging times.
Structure – With some students of piano there is a tendency to want advanced playing skills in a hurry. Accordingly they will often wish to bypass the basic and intermediate level skills and go straight to working on advanced songs or techniques. The results of this approach are predictable: frustration, poor skills across the board, and a nice piano serving as furniture. For best results, get help from a teacher with a structured program focused on mastering the basics!
Efficiency – Many private music teachers spend up to half of a lesson in idle conversation rather than useful musical instruction. While it is important for a music teacher to have a good rapport with students, the purpose of the meeting is to promote improvement in musicianship. We will not waste your time and money with excessive chatter, but will rather focus primarily on teaching piano!

"I would like to express my gratitude to Chad Crawford of Palmetto Music Institute for teaching my 13 year old son. Chad has been instrumental in cultivating Trent's musical abilities. The rapport of the instructor and the student is amazing. Trent was learning songs within weeks along with the 'solos' of the songs. With Chad's teaching ability and detailed program, Trent has excelled to the point that he has earned a tremendous opportunity to pre-enroll for the Fine Arts Center - a year and a half early. I am extremely proud of my son's accomplishments, and I highly recommend Chad." - Brandy Long, Travelers Rest
